MEET
TAOS

TAOS WYNN

Taos Wynn, a Georgia native, nonprofit executive, advocate, and small business owner has devoted his life’s work to the core belief that everyone matters, everyone deserves respect, and everyone can make a difference.

Taos was born in Statesboro, Georgia to Elaine and Raymond Wynn - a lifelong educator and combat veteran. The youngest of two sons from a military family, when Taos was six weeks old, his family relocated to Fort Sherman in the Panama Canal Zone following military orders. The move set in motion a frequent pattern of military based relocations for early childhood years.

The family returned to Georgia, when Taos was 14, commemorating his father’s retirement after 20 years of active duty service in the United States Army.

Taos graduated from Emory University obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Economics with a concentration in Finance and later completed a Juris Doctorate degree from Georgia State University College of Law. Taos earned an Executive Certificate in Public Leadership from the Harvard Kennedy School Executive Education Program.

Community Organizing

Inspired by the legacies of iconic Atlantans, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Congressman John Lewis, and Ambassador Andrew Young, Taos began pursuing a life of service in 2011 through international mission trips and establishing a Georgia nonprofit founded to combat lack and injustice through the power and operation of love - as defined by Dr. King.

In the years that followed Taos would advocate for unsheltered populations, underserved communities, and victims of human trafficking.

In 2018, with the rise of racial tensions fueled at the national level, Taos spearheaded the “Unify Georgia” initiative to promote racial reconciliation and further unity at the state level.

A year later in 2019, on the 55th Anniversary of the historic 1964 Civil Rights Act (and while in law school), Taos launched the Millennial Civil Rights movement to galvanize younger voters for generational change, tackling core issues related to criminal justice reform, student debt, climate change, and voter turnout. The initiative, garnering national attention and public endorsements from personal heroes John Lewis and Andrew Young, spanned engagement across 15 states, amplifying Georgia voices and direction as the nation grappled with a recent series of racially motivated murders across the country and on the cusp of a global pandemic.

In 2021, ahead of the Georgia US Senate race, Taos continued community outreach and organizing efforts, as a founding member of Faith Works an initiative to mobilize 1,000 churches and faith based partners across the state of Georgia for Get Out the Vote (GOTV) efforts and engagement prior to the election.
